Commercial & Residential Real Estate

The Firm’s real estate attorneys provide sophisticated, efficient and effective advice to individuals, real estate developers, entrepreneurs, banks and other owners of real estate. We bring extensive experience to a wide variety of sophisticated real estate transactions, including the development, acquisition, disposition, and tax-deferred exchange and contribution of properties, as well as build-to-suit and other leases for retail, commercial, and industrial projects. We are proficient in all aspects of joint venture and partnership transactions that combine financial partners with developers. In addition, our attorneys are skilled in structuring a variety of debt-equity transactions, including real estate financings and sale-leaseback transactions.

Our recent work has included build-to-suit transactions for retail and commercial use. We have been involved on behalf of private developers in many of the recent high-profile projects that are part of Gaston County’s real estate growth in recent years.

Our real estate practice also has extensive experience in real estate finance. Our representation spans the full range of financial legal services including the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of new and refinanced credits, the workout of distressed credits, and the representation of both lenders and borrowers in foreclosure and bankruptcy cases. Our real estate finance clients include many regional and national banks that regularly lend to commercial, industrial, multi-family, and specialty real estate owners and developers.

Our attorneys have in-depth experience representing landlords and tenants of both single and multi-tenant industrial, office, shopping center and mixed-use properties in a full range of leasing and leasing-related matters, ranging from straightforward leases to complex transactions involving build-to-suit and tax-sensitive transactions.

The Firm’s real estate and litigation attorneys have extensive experience in handling real estate litigation matters and are well placed to effectively advise clients on controversies involving real estate ownership, development, acquisition, disposition, leasing, foreclosures and bankruptcy, as well as matters involving zoning, condemnation, landlord-tenant and easement issues.
